In Minecraft there are few blocks that are actually affected by gravity (besides the plethora of colored concrete powders.) However all of the blocks in Minecraft, ones affected by gravity, only travel downwards unless affected by a piston. I think that in the new Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update, snow blocks should fall downwards just like sand and gravel when a block is removed from under it, but if a character is not careful, snow blocks will have a chance, when hitting the ground from falling, to be launched sideways and travel along the side of the mountain. There should be a chance for blocks around it to fall in succession or falling away. Building up or breaking apart into multiple or one avalanche as it travels along the mountain side. This will make another interesting dynamic for when players traverse the new mountains. If the avalanche hits the player, the player will be knocked along with the avalanche, taking as much health as a berry bush takes every time the player is hit by the snow. If this is considered to be a new feature for the game it can be changed to how the developers would please.
