The new mountains are great. They would great for building and surviving alike. What if they were better though? I have a few ideas that could go into mountains.
First, what if there was a small village sometimes found in a plains or tundra biome that is next to mountains? The houses would be made out of spruce and oak. There could also be mining or hiking gear found in these villages.
Hiking gear would just be somethings like leather armor and a hiking stick (Just slightly helps you maintain hunger while held).
A new biome variant, inspired by the Howling Peaks DLC from Minecraft Dungeons, called the red mountains would be nice. They would have pretty much everything that the DLC has (Excluding elevators), like the temple and the pillagers settling there.
Also, mountains should generate by oceans. In real life, that is where almost all mountains on Earth are found. This goes for the mountains and red mountains.
Perhaps 1 in 2000 mountains would be volcanic. THEY DO NOT ERUPT. They would pretty much look exactly like a mountain on the outside, but inside, there is a large vacant hole, with tubes leading to magma chambers at levels from 64 to -32. The magma is hotter than lava and does more damage. If it is picked up in a bucket and moved to the surface, it becomes lava.
Also, this might not be the same in java, but in bedrock we can barely see. I would like if you could up the distance at which we can see, so we can look upon our builds.
