Tar pits were a new biome that can be found in the new cave, the biome is littered with puddles of black tars that acts like powder snow but will afflict slowness when touch and deals continuous damage.
If a player is 29 blocks away from a naturally generated tar pit, skeletal remains of ancient mobs that was trapped in the tar will spawn out of it, here's the list of mob:
- Ancient fliers: Hostile Skeletal birds that behaves like Vex or phantoms. They have a low hp but really agile, this creature is untamable.
- Reptivore : this reptilian mob can be based out of mob C but with a much more skeletal version, this mob can swims in tars, afflict weakness after attacking it's prey, when it is at a low hp, it retreats back into the tar pools for cover
- Goo : black slime that would afflict slowness upon attacking, occasionally they will shoot blobs of tar that also afflict slowness. It drops tardrops upon death.
Skeletal Hoglin: acts like zoglin, immune to fire, nothing much.
Aside from the mobs that emerge from tars, here are list of naturally spawning mobs:
- Tarpoles, small passive mobs that could spawn in tar pits, they can be picked up with a bucket of tar, living long enough, they'll grow into Thrasher, Thrasers appears fish-like, they will latch out of pool to ambush their prey, snappers cannot be picked up like Tarpoles
Trilobite: shelled arthropod, upon death they will drop bug plate that can be combined with shields, any mobs attacking the shield will get knockback
