Furnace minecarts are often said to be the most useless item in the game. I think that this reputation is unfair, but I agree that furnace minecarts could easily be improved. This is part 1 of a 3 part series.
My first idea is a small one. When you place down a furnace minecart and put coal in it, it'll go in the direction you're facing. This makes sense, but it can be twerky at times, as the furnace minecart can switch direction if you bump it or put coal in it facing the wrong direction.
Mojang, please fix this. If you made furnace minecarts only face in one direction, it would make them less twerky, and would also help out with my second idea (which is mentioned in another post).
If you wanted to turn a minecart around, you could just break it and place it down again. If you were building a functioning train system, you'd need to build some sort of junction to turn them around. I thought about using activator rails to switch a furnace minecart's direction, but then I realized that this would conflict with the other use of activator rails, that is, unloading a mob inside of a minecart.
If you like this idea (which you probably won't, since it's short and boring), check out parts 2 and 3. I promise they're more interesting than this one.
