Dripstone is currently non-renewable, so I propose they should "grow";
A stalactite on a dripstone block should have a very small chance to grow.
A stalagmite on a dripstone block should have a very small chance to grow if a stalactite drips water onto it.
If they grow onto each other, they should connect into a pillar/stalagnate.
Naturally occuring pointed dripstone should either have a random hard-cap on how much they can grow, like kelp does, or not grow at all, to prevent caves just filled with gigantic dripstone.
