Besides the ability to climb walls with it's face, the spider isn't very spiderlike. Here's a few spider ideas that would fit perfectly into the cave update (These would apply to both the normal spider and the cave spider)
Climbing
- The spider should be able to not only climb walls, but also stick to ceilings (losing their grip and falling when damaged)
- As the spider climbs, it's entire body should change rotation, just like a bat
Web Abilities
- Instead of web being created upon chunk generation, spiders should have the ability to place web blocks
- Spiders should be able to quickly "swim" through web blocks, as if they were in water (this would allow spiders to "string" from ceilings,
Web Block
- The web block would change depending on the surrounding blocks, like glass panes (vertically placed web would appear as vertical string)
- New sound; the current sound of placing the web blocks sounds like stone (It would sound more like a faint guitar string)
Spawners
- Instead of generating on the floor of mineshafts, spider spawners should generate on the ceilings of large caves, making it much more difficult for a player to get to the it (Spiders spawned on the side or bottom of a block would automatically stick to that block)
