Deepslate bricks should be created from deepslate, not cobbled deepslate

If deepslate is an analog of stone and cobbled deepslate is an analog of cobblestone, then deepslate bricks is an analog of stone bricks. Stone bricks are created from stone, not cobblestone, hence deepslate bricks should be created from deepslate, not cobbled deepslate.

    The way it is currently, you're punished for using Silk Touch for mining Deepslate, in that you have a block that has no use other than directly decorative. If you use non-ST pick in order to Cobbled Deepslate, you have a block that can be turned into A LOT of decorative blocks as well as tools and functional blocks, and thus is very useful.  Because of this, it makes the Cobbled Deepslate -> Deepslate smelting recipe near pointless.

    It makes more logical sense to make it function like stone/cobblestone do. Where the default block without Silkt Touch is the one that can be made into it's cobbled stair/slab/wall variants or used to craft tools/furnaces/etc, but in order to get Smooth Deepslate (and thus Deepslate Bricks and Deepslate Tiles) you must first smelt it to Deepslate.

    As already mentioned. this is definitely a messed up recipe and should be switched to the same as Stone/Cobblestone. I was so lost when I went to try and make Deepslet Bricks...

    is there any specific reasoning behind this? im sure it was a simple oversight i hope to see this in 1.18 its really annoying that i cant craft deepslate variants if i silk touch the deepslate doesnt really make any sense in my opinion...

    If you read the changelog for 1.17 it says that it should be the same parity as its stone counterpart. Hopefully this will be addressed as it is quite punishing when using silk touch to then have to re-mine the deepslate to be able to craft anything useful

    I would disagree. Once you have a fully kit gear, the only pickaxe you need to bring is a ST pickaxe when adventuring. The fortune pickaxe could be left in your ender chest. This system encourages bringing a ST pickaxe and a  non- ST pickaxe with you when mining.

    This was not changed in 1.18 and still makes no sense. How do you make bricks and tiles from cobbles? In real life you would need intact slate for that, cobbled slate isn't worth anything. It should work exactly the same way stone works. First smelt the cobbled variant into the intact variant (or get it with silk touch), and then craft the bricks from that. I don't understand why they would make it the other way around.

    I just smelted 22 stacks of deepstone cobble for a build, die in the nether and lose all my stuff and then came back to find out you don't actually use deepstone to make deepstone bricks.

    Still no change in sight as of 1.20 ? Please devs, this makes no sense.
