Powder snow is a great in game addition, don't get me wrong. but the concept of powder snow itself could be used to great affect if improved and changed. If powder snow had gravity, and generated in such a way that it sometimes generated on the sheer face of of cliff, many blocks tall but only a few blocks wide, it could greatly increase the risk factor in scaling mountains. This would be seen when players are attempting to summit a mountain by digging up its cliffs, effectively negating the risk of falling and taking damage. To counteract this, powder snow should spawn on the sides of cliffs, and since this idea proposes that powder snow has gravity, whenever the player tunnels beneath the power snow and disturbs it, the powder snow would collapse onto the player, possibly freezing and eventually dealing major damage, if not outright killing the player. This could be a feasible implementation of the idea of an avalanche that players have wanted, without having to create new game mechanics and excessively complicated commands. If players are using powdered snow to cover up bases because it does not obey gravity, how about making it only obey gravity when broken, but not when the player is falling through it? then, it could still be used for traps but could still fit into this idea.
