This could add to players creativity in overcoming this natural obstacle. for example creating a dwarf like tunnel under the mountains, a system of railways or even a carving out a mountain pass. It would also make the end game more satisfying as you use an elytra to easily fly over this natural wall you used to struggle getting round.
