Netherite pickaxe with beacon (haste 2) can insta-mine grimstone

Getting insta-mine should never be easy but there's going to need to be a lot of digging in the 1.17 update and grimstone is tough stuff.  Netherite seems to have limited use for tools at the moment, so this could be  great opportunity to give it a bit more value.  If grimstone could be insta-minable with a netherite pick and beacon with haste 2, it would still mean a lot of work to get to that stage but would enable big project low down, with out using TNT.

    This might already work, since it is fully dependent on the hardness of the block itself. Have you tested it?

    Okay, then in order for it to become instant-mineable, its hardness will have to be decreased, increasing mining-speed in general. I don't think I agree with that.

    It should be golden pickaxes that do that. It would add more to the strategy to mining idea that the team are going for.

    I just played in the newest snapshot, 21w13a, and even with a Netherite pickaxe, Eff 5, and Haste 2 beacon, deepslate/grimstone is not insta-mineable. This is something that should be added for Netherite over Diamond. Diamond should still be able to instamine regular stone, but the deep stuff, netherite shou;d be king.

    absolutely agree. there's currently no insentive to use netherite over diamond with a pick.
