Since some Mojang developers mentioned that they wanted to work more with villagers, they can maybe add a feature when there's a Lush Cave under a Jungle Biome, a village could sometimes spawn since jungle villages don't exist. The village can spawn in a big or medium sized lush caves at around Y=40-30 ish maybe. The village will be the similar to an above ground village.
To make the village adapt to the underground it can maybe have;
- Boulders here and there containing iron or copper ores (giving the impression that the villagers mined it and put it there).
- Having a chance that a mineshaft spawns next to the village (Kinda like how sometimes a blacksmith in a village)
- If there is a mineshaft next to the village, it can spawn a miner (new profession) which has a house / base near the mineshaft. It can sell you copper (a rare trade), new blocks like grimstone, dripstone, calcite, tuff, etc.
- A minor detail but the toolsmith can maybe have its house next to the miner's one (Giving the impression that it's giving the miner tools).
- Instead or normal chests spawning, there could maybe be minecart chests (Another minor detail).
- Greenhouse farms with Glow Berry light sources (or something else).
- Copper Golems
Grian has made a video designing Jungle Villages so the design for the houses can be similar to that, but a bit more adapted to the underground.
But if mineshafts will generate next to villages, it makes sense that they aren't abandoned-looking and actually functional.
