This concept comes from Minecraft Dungeons, It would be a cool mechanic to add to the vanilla game. They would be vastly different to fit the regular game. The anceint hunts would be started with finding an ancient structure found anywhere in the overworld. they would contain some type of altar block or offering table where you drop an enchanted item/ runes into the custom GUI. It would consume these items and spit out a type of compass-like item that would lead you to the different ancient mobs. Depending on the runes, would dictate which compass you get, there will be several that have different combinations. The ancient mobs would be the mobs from the 2017 mob vote that represent the 4 elements (Mob A:Water, Mob B:Air, Mob C:Earth, Mob D:Fire). These mobs would only spawn once you get to the location that the compass leads you to (an ancient ruined structure thats built around the theme of the mob). The reason to go to these structures and kill these mobs is 1) exploration, and 2) special items and enchantments drops that help with end game tasks like how phantoms help fix elytras. Phantoms could also do with a revamp to fit this mechanic and give them a retexture to their pitch black and green eye model to add difficulty.
