    The whole point of the new ore generation is to create a risk-reward system. When you are going deep enough below y=0, you are dealing with a type of stone that takes more time to mine, and you're taking the potential risk of coming accross the Deep Dark and having to deal with the Warden. In return, you find an incredibly high frequency of Diamonds and Redstone, and the highest amount of Gold as well at y=-16. This is such good game design in my opinion, and definitely needs to stay that way, though it will almost certainly be tweaked along the way.
