First off let me say i have loved the cave update snapshots so far. I have only really found one problem, and that is that the update is adding a greater demand for strip mining, which can get very tedious very quickly; especially with the new caves right around the corner. I think the way that coal and iron generates are currently pretty good, and the same goes for gold, emeralds, and Redstone. The main issue stems from how diamonds are rarer when exposed to air, and lapis is downright impossible to find without strip-mining or entirely by accident. I think the feature about how diamonds more when not exposed to air should be changed to something like diamonds spawn more when near water, or if diamonds should be harder to find, diamonds spawn less unless you are near a body of lava or water. As for lapis, i think that it should spawn more commonly when all sides of it are covered by non air blocks but you can still find it out in the open. This would still award players for exploring underwater caves and strip mine, but still allow players to avoid strip mining. I also think that underwater caves should be more accessible to get these ores because i believe that they may become underutilized because of how hard they can get to and stay in for long enough periods of times to get these valuable ores.
