When summoning the Wither Storm there is a very nice effect that causes dirt blocks to rise out of the ground and move around. I like that effect and think there should be a way to get it without summoning the wither storm.
Here's how I think it could work:
Craft any block of any type with a levitation potion. While the block is set to levitate, it will float around. Possibly bringing nearby blocks in the air with it if they are of the exact same type. Breaking the block that has the levitation potion applied would drop the block without the potion, giving you the original item back. Any other floating blocks would then fall the way blocks might fall when the wither is destroyed.
Want floating dirt? Just craft a dirt block with the Levitation potion.
Want a haunted library of flying books? Just craft a book with the Levitation potion.
The effect is already in the game. Even things like flying books could be animated via a combination of the float effect and the book opening animation for enchanting tables.
For weapons, the effect could be as if it was held by a mob that was invisible where nearby items attract. So, a suit of diamond armor with a diamond weapon could attract as if being worn by an invisible mob, moving around, but otherwise not doing anything.
Note that this idea is purely cosmetic, although the player could try standing on levitating blocks.
