Loving the new caves however in snapshot 21w07a the cave generation seems to be lacking especially compared to the previous weeks snapshot. 20w06a for me personally made the caves seem more alive whilst also having a various ways to challenge that player. The caves also connected in interesting ways, for instance via underwater lakes allowing the player to travel via boat underground.
Taking into account that some are not huge fans of 20w06a's cave generation as there are too many large caves, perhaps every now and then placing a scarcity between those large cave could appease everyone. For instance have some area where there are many large caves packed together (like in 20w06a). Then have long narrow and small branches that connect large caverns to one another. This could also be based on biomes eg. desert biome could have large lake caves underneath, where as a forest biomes have few long narrow caves.
21w07a's Grimstone is an awesome block however, I feel as though it should begin generating lower down in the world as it currently takes up large portion (~Y -5 to Y -60). In my opinion reducing Grimstone's generation height slightly, or even creating Grimstone environments/biomes, would allow this block to present itself more clearly as one that signifies challenge and isn't oversaturating.
Lastly the new ore generation is a great and makes for a bit of strategy when mining, my only opinion here is that coal and iron generation cut off be lower down.
