Gilding tools

Using a gold ingot with a diamond/netherite tool in a smithing table would gild it, making the tool look cool and also making it act somewhat like a gold tool. A gilt tool would have lower durability and maybe be slightly weaker but it would be easier to enchant. Gilding tools multiple times will make the tool more gilded and restore its durability. But... be carefull! gilding a tool too much will make it into a gold tool.
