there needs to be more than glow lichen in these new big caves so it's actually possible to see things. torches just aren't enough since the caves can be so big. Maybe some vegetation outside the ones in the lush caves. Maybe a glowing fungus plant or even another glowing mob besides the glow squid. I think something to help you see more of the cave would help mining a little bit in the ultra dark grimstone layers.
