Minecraft has had many great update over the years slowley adding more and more items and block, These new items and blocks are great! However where theres more items and blocks, there is less inventory space for resource gathering and spelunking.
An average minecraft players inventory would usually contain (at an end game perspective):
A Sword
2 Pickaxes (fortune & slik touch)
A Shovel
An Axe
A Bow/Crossbow
Arrows
An Elytra
Firework Rockets
A Shield
Food
Torches
An Ender Chest
Maybe a Trident
Possible Items (if the player is exploring the nether):
A Gold Piece of Armor
Some Potions
Apart from maybe the Trident and the Shield these are all ESSENTIAL to many Players and they would struggle to play the game comfortably without these items on hand. Backpacks are NOT an original suggestion when it comes to Minecraft. However the way i am suggesting they are implemented is a bit different to what many others have suggested.
Introducing the "Back Slot"!

Here is the Player's Inventory with the proposed "Back Slot". Along with the addition of the backslot are 2 new items, The Backpack and The Quiver. The Backpack would equip in the "Back Slot" and would open a new inventory window to the right of the existing inventory and would be toggleable with the Backpack button to the right of the Crafting Book button. This would grant the Player access to 12 new slots (9 + 3 hotbar slots accessed with scroll wheel or "0 , -, =").

Quiver would act like an equipable bundle to hold a max of 128 arrows. hit max char
