Since the new cave update added extremely large caves, what if we were able to shoot torches with bows / crossbows so we are able to light up high to reach areas without much hassle? If the player wanted to light up a large area, it could take hours with the now huge caves generating all over the place. However if torches could be loaded onto (cross)bows, then it could take about 3 - 4 hour job and shorten it to about an hour or two.
It would only work on a flame bow so its not super over powered in the beginning, and would work only if the player loads the (cross)bow with torches (so if the player has torches in their offhand for example, just like fireworks in crossbows)
Then, the player is able to shoot torches wherever they like, as long as the torch is able to be placed there. If the torch cannot be placed then it should just be dropped as an item, like if it was shot on a slab, in a liquid (water / lava), at the ceiling with no blocks on any of the 4 sides and more.
damage wise, it would be extremely weak, weaker than the normal arrow, but possibly set the mob on fire while also dropping the torch (not placing). The mob should also only stay on fire for about a second or two before being un-lit.
This also wouldn't be too game breaking or "its not how Minecraft was made to be" but in reality, if we can have fireworks in crossbows, then what's stopping us from simply replacing a firework with a torch?
