Parity means making features behave consistently across different Minecraft editions, most commonly between Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Use this category to discuss released features that exist in both versions of the game but work differently. Please note that bugs are not parity issues and should be reported separately.

The parity would be achieved if bedrock used JSON as an NBT replacement. The issue is NBT data does not have strong typing like JSON. It all comes down to decisions made 10 years ago when file size was an issue and NBT object notation was chosen. NBT now, in hindsite, was a growth hindering choice Mojang made when programming Minecraft, but they didn't know that. NBT allowed fast implimentation of new features, and when this was ONLY an indy java game, just getting people to play was #1 priority. Mojang. Ditch NBT. Adopt JSON. Grow for another 10 years.
