The current snapshot is great for awesome sights and cave generation, but there's definitely some balancing work that needs to be done. I started a fresh survival world and could get a full set of diamond armor in just 3 in-game days (full tools took 1 extra day). Caves simply aren't dangerous enough to justify how commonly diamonds spawn.
Amethyst geodes are even worse. While being getting diamond armor quickly could be some sort of balancing feature, amethysts have no excuse on their behalf. I've found 2 geodes during my search for diamonds (and 0 dungeons, mind you) which is insane because amethyst geodes are supposed to be something you build a secondary base around, not something you can just have the moment you start up any game.
Vote for this idea if you want to be rewarded for playing the game for more than an hour (or don't vote if you like having everything handed to you).
