cauldrons stop flowing water

I often build underground bases in Minecraft, be it through a mountain or a plains biome, they are always my favorite to make, but recently while developing my newest base which is under a warm ocean on an island, i realized how annoying it was dealing with water constantly being a threat if I build too high up and it destroys my redstone stuff all the time, so i was wondering, why not give cauldrons a proper building use by making it so if water flows onto the top of a cauldron it stops right there, like a bucket stopping dripping water from building up, it'd make them have a much broader use and help everyone who wants to build under an ocean a lot
