I imagine the dream dimension as a place where wacky fantasy mixes with a little psychology, where the strangeness of the human mind takes a physical form that can travel with the player into other dimensions. Assuming this is near the direction Mojang plans to take it, this would be an excellent addition!
Truth is the substance that gives everything in the dream dimension its power. The weakest nightmares and least interesting materials have a little truth diluted inside them, but the most powerful monsters and blocks have significant amounts of truth mixed into them. However, truth in its purest form is the rarest material in the dimension, as most of it is mixed with and obscured by other substances. Despite being rare, pure truth is a powerful and sought-after material.
I have a few ideas for what truth could do. I would love if it could be used to create dream dimension monsters, and it would be interesting if it had a unique and useful interaction with redstone. It would also be interesting if it were used to craft powerful weapons, possibly as a radiant netherite-level upgrade material. Part of this comes from how poetic defeating nightmares with truth sounds, and part of it is because I want to whack my enemies in the head with the cold, hard truth!
