Some despawned items should become part of the dirt/sand blocks under them.

Let's say you die and drop your diamond sword, if you don't find your death spot fast enough you still have a chance the item can be dug up like the archeology sights. Ground with despawned items should have a slightly different texture so you can easily find the history of an area. this could also happen at natural structures. Imagine in abandoned villages digging the remains of an iron golem or items a villager had when they died in that very spot to zombies.

  This idea, right here, would be so fantastic. Really clever use for the brush. One of the biggest frustrations I have with the game is when I permanently lose items only to have to grind for hours to stock back up. Could be cool if this had more chance of happening for renamed items.
