Chainmail Needs A Use

There has never been a use for chainmail it is hard to obtain and is no better than iron which is quite easy to obtain. Traditionally chainmail would have been worn under armor or normal clothes. If this was added to the game it would add much more benefit to chainmail. Obviously being able to wear two sets of armor would be quite overpowered though it could be easily fixed by changing how chainmail works. if worn by itself it works like it always has but when worn under armor it only gives a slight benefit to armor and only to certain types of damage EX arrows and other bladed weapons this would not only balance it more but also make it more realistic(Chainmail would not be able to help against lava or explosions). If this still seems too powerful there is still another way people have been asking for a way to where their chest plate and elytra with chainmail you would be able to. Providing some more protection while wearing elytra in the same ways as mentioned before.

I think they should make chainmail be able to be added to other armor pieces to add more durability and protection to your armor, so that the rarity of the chainmail has a reason.
