i'd like for you to take a look at the history of Centralia, Pennsylvania. a town which had a huge mining operation that caught flame and scorched the earth beneath them for decades. To me, this signifies that coal blocks should have the option to be lit on fire with a flint and steel. Doing so creates a faint glow that will spread to any other coal block it touches continuing the effect for a short time. Those blocks, after being burned, then only produce charcoal. they also have the ability to light wood blocks placed next to them on fire. Just a small addition to add more light in tunnels in a real and natural way.
