It would be interesting to have a pirate island for pirates, a treasure island protected by pirates, and a pirate captain who is the leader of the pirates.

I have always wanted more danger in the ocean, a sea Kraken would surely make for a good mini boss. The Illager pirates also sound really cool.

Illager pirates are good and have been wanted for a while. I do think shipwrecks should sometimes spawn as normal ships above land that can be raided and they’d have the pirates on. I don’t think they should be able to move though. I think there should also be a water/ocean variant of the pillager outpost. I don’t know if anyone will get this but the outposts in The Wind Waker are a good example. As for the kraken. Would be an interesting idea but I don’t think it’s very minecrafty and I don’t think Minecraft is prepared for water based combat.

Contruction of our own ships is already viable, but they can't move on the water. Ship battles and Illager Ships, shotting fireballs on you with aiming dispensers, would be very epic. Another boss for seas related to this mechanic would be some type of "Flying Dutchman" on his ghost ship and causing nausea and bringing fog.

I think that more variety of sea monsters that spawn randomly, spawning like the classic ones from the land, would bring another "dimention" on the Overworld.

Biomes for the seas are already made and large enough to it be able. But crossing sea biomes today doens't seem dangerous or meaningfull as land.
