Giant Glow squid in the End (Endsquid)

Endsquid are gigantic passive mobs, and can be seen across the void from very far away. Villager legends suggest they are the stars in the night sky above the overworld. On full moons, if you are above Y-100, you can hear the Endsquid singing.

 

Friendly to the player, and cannot be killed

Tamed using an ender eye on a stick, rode using this and a saddle. Good (slow) alternative to Elytra

Eat shulkers, can smell and hunt them

Fascinated by Mooshrooms, can likely smell the mycelium

Located using Endsquid locator (compass + beak fragment)

Beak fragments added to cat collars makes them glow

 

A player riding an endsquid will not die when falling into the void, rather they will magically appear at their overworld bed. This can be useful!

 

New items

  1. Endsquid beak fragment – used in brewing, and crafting.

Found in stronghold chests, or shooting full moon with spectral arrow.

Farmed when Endsquid munches a shulker

  1. Endsquid locator
  2. Levitation potion – given by Mooshroom after being juggled by Endsquid

 

New achievements

“Moon song” – Listen to the skies during a full moon

“Alignment” - Get two Endsquid to meet and sing to each other

“Aiming skyward” – Get an Endsquid beak fragment by shooting the full moon with a spectral arrow

“Ground control to major Moo” – Send a Mooshroom into space by having an Endsquid juggle it

“Obscure creature” – Craft an Endsquid locator

“Budget flight” – Ride an Endsquid over 1000 blocks

“A strange dream” – Fall into the void from an Endsquid and wake up unharmed back home

    In response to Kipy, it would be like a ghast, so not much lag.
    The End is very stale, this would give it a mystical, dreamy feeling, I like it.

    In response to KipyMudkip1. I understand that, but it shouldn't cause any more lag than any other mob in the game, and the sheer rarity of it would make any lag it did cause irrelevant. Not fitting in the game is unfortunately how many people feel about most updates (and how I initially felt about parrots and polar bears), but I think once something is inside the game, most of us love it :)

    In response to Pwaaool. Yes I suppose it is like a ghast! I was comparing it to a phantom that you would want to find in the world, and the tracking it down with a compass idea I hope really adds to the mystical nature of it :)

    The end has a lot of connections to the ocean (shuckers being barnacles, Ender pearls, end ships) so I was about to request this but then I saw this! They need to add this.
