Sometimes, when I'm looking for ores, I know that I need to go looking for caves (in specific, ravines) because they are naturally generated subterranean cavities with more surface area and would require less excavation to find valuable ores. However, there are inherent dangers to that, so, I mine near to the cave and use glass near the openings so that monsters cannot spot me. As I do this, I begin to realize that it looks so ug-lv (so robot don't filter my post for "offensive" posts). I also thought about how people can escape mobs in a cave by mining a small opening in it and blocking it off. If deep dark cave blocks had high hardness, the beauty and authenticity of a deep dark cave would not be at the mercy of the player (assuming they had enchanted netherite armor and potions at hand) if they found one, as it would be very time consuming, tedious, and dangerous to strip the cave. Rather, they would be at the mercy of the cave.
