There would be four variations to the meat block, with each of them stemming from the regular meat block with can be crafted at a new block called the grinder.
The Grinder: The grinder would be a new block used for crafting the meat block. This block would work similarly to the composter, in which it would accept meat and eventually spit out a meat block.
The Meat Block: The meat block would act like most other blocks of items, allowing you to craft it into 9 chunks of meat and vice versa. Furthermore, you would be able to lace this block with potion effects, making anyone who eats it gain the effect for a few seconds. Eating this block would act like snow or cake, taking off the top layer with each click. It would attract undead/carnivorous mobs to it.
The Cooked Meat Block: Cooking the meat block would grant you the cooked meat block. This would act the same as the meat block, only granting you more hunger with each click.
The Rotten Meat Block: Leaving the meat block outside will cause it to rot, having it take the properties of rotten flesh upon consuming and causing arthropods to be attracted to it.
The Soggy Meat Block: Waterlogging the block will allow you to sink through it, like powdered snow.
Waxed Meat Block: Waxing the meat block will cause it to be unable to rot and unable to be eaten.
