I feel like arthropods should be a little more represented in Minecraft by adding tarantulas to game. Tarantulas are aggressive towards the spiders, but neutral towards the players, a bit like how they are in real life. Since Tarantulas are some of a commons pets in the world, they are tamable, using spider eyes, and also are ridable. In the wild, they lay down webs on the ground( a bit like carpets) and detect you when ever you walk, and jump on them (Tarantulas actually do this to detect prey), and also making you slow down, like the cobwebs in the game. It attacks you by normal attacks or stinging hairs. To add on to this new web type, you scan use it for redstone, when something or a mob move on top of a web, it'll activate redstone, a great use for making traps. Another thing is that I believe that there should be variants depending on what biome they spawn in, to give few examples: Mexican Red Knee Tarantulas for deserts, Rose Hair Tarantula for the plains, and Cobalt Blue Tarantula for the Jungle Biome. Lastly, they should be breedable, but it is unlike any other mobs. To make them breed, you have to use Honey for them to breed, then a %50 percent chance of one of the pairs will die because in nature, the males has a risk of being killed by a female tarantula in a wild after mating. Upon a successful breed, 2 baby tarantulas spawn. In the terms of the design, they should be vastly different from spiders, bit more on a realistic side.
I hope you guys love this idea :).
