Adding new rocks to Minecraft
Speaking of the new update, what I think is the most appealing is...adding more rocks and mineral types. Now we already have diorite, andesite, granite, calcite, tuff, sandstone (gravel? netherrack?) and probably the rocks you will see in deep dark caves. This is certainly not enough, maybe Team Mojang will add them in the latest snapshot, you obviously don't know.
If caves are being updated and the height limit is being increased, why not add more rocks to Minecraft? possible suggestions are:
Marble, which is an extension of calcite (calcite and marble are chemically relevant to each other)
Decomposition of calcite into quicklime and carbon dioxide under heat (already present in the "bettergeo" mod), the carbon dioxide would be treated as "air" while the calcium oxide that's left would have a different block ID.
I think this suggestion would not only make Minecraft closer to real-life (except zombies and the monsters that attack you, obviously) but also give many opportunities for builders to experiment with how the new blocks can be used in their builds to make them more interesting.
