When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Pipes

Pipes would be a redstone item like hoppers. Pipes would transport items like hoppers except they can transport items up and they can't take items from blocks that can hold items and they can also connect to each other.

    Just have hoppers be able to be placed in different directions

    1) Hopperswould still be needed for getting the items in the first place, and for item sorters.
    2) A line of pipes would both be less laggy since it doesn't pull items, and would allow more compact storage systems.

    As long as the pipes might require some source of pressure for transporting items up you have my vote.

    Also have less capacity, it's pipes so it makes sense and also balances it.

    As a point of differentiation from the item hopper, how about doubling the speed at which items are transported?
    Items of the same type shall not be sent at the same time so as not to interfere with the item sorter.
