I saw a few posts about more usages for copper, and I think the sentiment is unanimous. I've been playing on the new snapshots for a while and copper is quite common. Which is great because it's a cool building block; however, I think it should have more usages than just rod and spyglass, and instead of just adding another set of armor/tools, I had some ideas of unique things that copper could be used for. This is one of them (a related set):
* Lens (4 copper nuggets surround amethyst)
- change spyglass recipe to use a copper lens instead
* Goggles (two lenses around a piece of leather)
- they are aesthetics goggles (fitting to MC imo), worn in the head armor slot
- they also allow zoom via keybind; not as powerful as the spyglass zoom but w/o black borders
- you can optionally attach a copper compass to lens
* Copper Compass (4 copper surrounding redstone, like compass/clock)
- this item is a compass that shows the light level
- it has a gauge similar to compass, clear distinction between red (monster spawn) and green
- you can attach it to the goggles; effect is you no longer can zoom but you can press the goggle keybind to visualize light levels on all blocks surrounding the player
* Light Detector (copper compass on top of a Daylight Detector)
- identical to the daylight detector, but detects any light, not only daylight
- emits comparator signal equal to light level, can also be inverted
I also had some other ideas unrelated to this set, that I can share on other individual posts.
