update chunks in your world you have been in

i would like to see the new caves and copper in my minecraft world but i dont want to go to far chunks just to get it. if possible. is there a way to and new copper and caves after updating the world to the latest minecraft snapshot and the copper and the caves will be in the chunks you have been in?
