A block that sets the gamemode of an area (for example 20x20).
It works like a beacon (you feed it a material to set the gamemode). So everyone that enters there will have it's gamemode changed to the one specified, and anyone outside all "gamemode block" radiuses will be set to the default gamemode.
This block allows for setting up specific zones in servers to adventure, so that people are not able to break walls and blocks to cheese a section or to make a mess. This way people can be sure people play their "territories" the way they intended to, like making a mini-game and being sure no one breaks the blocks to win, or setting up a store with redstone, and making sure no one breaks the machine and takes the items for free.
This also allows to setup special dungeons like the ocean monuments and end dungeons (and other zones), if you add one of these blocks in there on world generation, you make it so that players have an unique experience the first time they play that section (until they find the block and enable survival mode to break walls and change the landscape).
