So, with minecraft 1.17 on the horizon and snapshots for it already in the players' hands, it has been revealed that we can make stairs and slabs out of the two new kinds of copper blocks the update is going to bring us. However, copper is the only ore-based material we can currently do this with. Gold, Iron, Diamond, Emerald, Redstone, Quartz, and Netherite blocks only have the one variant of themselves, and are also unable to be crafted into stairs/slabs at all. I'm suggesting that these materials be given the ability to be used in the same way as copper when it comes to these building blocks, mostly for those who are into aesthetic construction, but also for more functional builds. I myself am not exactly one for cosmetic builds, let alone super-functional ones, but I know there are folks out there who are, and will likely ask once they notice this "disparity" in material functionality, so I figured I'd bite the bullet and submit a feature request. That said, keep up the good work on all the planned (and unplanned) upcoming features, Mojang folks! And stay safe as well!
