Minecraft fire mechanic is simple. Block catches fire and disappears after a few seconds. And out of this simplicity it has lots of problems...
- Blocks can catch fire through the wall (even if the wall is made of non-burning block).
- Fire can spread infinitely causing lags (and crashes if we talk about servers).
- Burned houses and forests leave nothing behind (just... nothing, like they disappeared).
To avoid all these problems people just set "doFireTick" to false and forget about this mechanic at all...
That might and should be fixed. By reworking fire mechanic, adding burned versions of blocks (wood, leaves, etc.), fire could become a part of gameplay again, like it was before and should be now.
