So in order for the Warden to be more challenging, as it is meant to be a truly terrifying encounter, I'm proposing a ranged attack for the Warden which activates when you get a certain amount of blocks away from an aggro'd Warden.
This "attack" doesn't actually hurt you, but it gives you an effect that allows the Warden to catch up to you if you are running away, and to make things difficult for you if you are trying to bow spam it.
The "Roar of the Depths" works like this:
When you get 8 blocks away (or perhaps further), the Warden will let out an absolutely horrifying, bone-shattering roar/scream which will give you a blindness effect for some time (maybe 10-30 seconds). It's almost as if the roar of the Warden commands the very darkness of the deep dark to surround you. Players who are blind cannot sprint, which would make escaping the warden more difficult, and of course if you are blind, aiming your bow will be quite a challenge.
This would encourage players to fight within short range of the Warden, should they choose to actually fight it, which would give a great advantage to the Warden, and potentially dissuade players from choosing to battle it in the first place.
