What if you could connect minecarts with chains?
This would make minecarts much more useful, and give a much better use to furnace minecarts. This would add a mid-game accessible way to transport large amounts of items. (or I'm sure people would come up with much more creative uses)
I'm thinking if you shift-right click two minecarts while holding a chain, it would connect the minecarts and consume the chain. Breaking one of the minecarts would drop the chain.
Now, wouldn't this faze out booster tracks? Well, it's hard to say, but who says you have to use a furnace minecart?
A weight system could be added, making it so the more minecarts you have, the slower you speed and slow down. This should also mean picking up too much speed downhill can derail minecarts when turning.
Booster tracks could speed a minecart train up much faster than a furnace minecart, and unpowered booster tracks should slow down minecarts much faster than coasting (as they already do)
Extra Features
Making tracks a bit cheaper would make minecarts much easier to use for long distance travel.
(ex. the crafting recipe for rails produces 12 instead of 6)
Sorry for poor structure and grammatical errors every now and then, I got the idea from somebody and typed it in a rush
