I have an idea for an underground counterpart to villagers/piglins for the new & upcoming Caves & Cliffs update; the Rock Lobsters.
What:
The rock lobsters are a humanoid lobster like creature made of rock. They are a neutral mob that spawns in groups of 3-5 in hideaways that generate in caves/caverns. They have 30 hearts(60 health points) & damage enemies for 3 hearts(6 health points) in easy, 4 hearts(8 health points) in normal, 5 hearts(10 health points) in hard.
How:
Rock lobsters spawn in structures called hideaways. If attacked any rock lobsters in the area will become aggressive towards the player. If fed any vegetables(potatoes, carrots, beetroots) they will pause to eat, the player will then be rewarded with a variety of randomized minerals & ores when the rock lobster "poops" it out. The rock lobsters favorite food is beetroot soup which will reward the player with a superior selection of minerals & ores.
Rock lobster hideaways are uncommon structures that generate underground & can have crops such as potatoes, carrots, & beetroots planted in them serving as a hint to what rock lobsters eat.
Why:
Rock lobsters would fill a role players have been asking for, that being an underground counterpart to villagers. Their hideaways would provide a 'safezone' for players seeking refuge when mining. Beetroots are harder to grow in large quantities. By making them the rock lobsters favorite food would entice players to plant them & give beetroot more use.
