(Java) Swimming controls feel terrible

simply pressing W shouldn't put the player into the swimming state. i think pressing sprint should put the player into the swimming state and crouching should put me back into the standing state.

if you can't empathize with my problem, build a big pool of water, plant a bunch of kelp and replace all the kelp with more than age 5 (age can be found on the right of the F3 overlay). it happened multiple times that i took out near perfect rows of kelp, because the game lowered my head height when i didn't want it to.
