Many of us Java players that have been around since before Beta 1.8 of the game have had very fond memories of the world gen during those days. Once the game was released though, the world gen was changed to remove the various oddities that appeared in the world. While over the years the generation has been tweaked to fit more to the original style. I'm afraid outside of specific biomes like the shattered savannas, the old style of world gen is not consistent.
It's a feature that I'm sure many Java players miss from the Alpha and Beta days. And with Caves and Cliffs introducing more drastic changes to world gen, it's to prefect time to reintroduce that old style of world gen.
As a World Preset.
We have default, super flat, amplified, buffet and in some versions we have customized worlds. So why not add the classic world gen in as a preset for the modern versions of Minecraft? It would be nice to experience those oddities in the world again. Experiencing that type of world gen along with the new biomes that have been added since Beta 1.8 would be a dream come true. I know its a small feature, that some people will gloss over if it gets into this update. But for people like me that have very fond memories of the days in which worlds where generated like that, it would be a feature dearly appreciated.
Thank you for reading this post, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
