Minecraft is a game where the multiplayer is set up and hosted by the community themselves. The idea that the company gets involved in some way with private servers (those were never exempted from moderation), realms, anarchy servers, or etc. is just a bad idea. Large Servers that have most of the issues already have moderation, and private ones don't need it. And knowing that they probably won't have humans as moderators forever and eventually will automate, as has every other company and server, this spells disaster. It is such a stupid idea for such a game. And they have had so many years since Minecraft has had a multiplayer feature, and only now you decide to add a moderation system after your merged with Microsoft? It won't work. To those in Microsoft that are reading this, Minecraft isn't a social platform like Xbox Live. Universal bans might work there, but they for sure won't work here, especially without appeals. The new migration to a new account is a good idea, but this is a turn in the wrong direction.

Mojang should not be micromanaging private servers, especially realms. If a player is hacking or breaking the rules, it is up to the owner of the server or the moderators of that server (not Mojang) to take action. This would also effectively kill anarchy servers and servers which allow profanity.

I can see what they're wanting to do, but like it's already been stated before servers are completely independent of each other. At the very least, universal moderation should be limited to realms only and should apply to realms only, since that's directly hosted by Mojang. Leave server moderation to the server owners, they know their communities FAR better than anyone at Mojang would.

Honestly, if Mojang goes through with this, I'm flat out done with Minecraft and I'll be looking into developing a clone of the game.

Unlike what a lot of people here think, Mojang is not trying to slowly ruin the game. Instead, they thought that something was a good idea, in which the entire community thinks not. But of course as you all know, it's technically Microsoft. And they're known for being a really, really bad company. I'm sorry, but I don't think this is going to change.

I played minecraft for years, and I do not want to get ban that cost me not playing with my friends anymore, can't interact with other people from a different server, and can't buy something at the market place. Kinda weird mojang doing this moderation thing that ban a person from 1 server that lose every online multiplayer in minecraft. Servers already have moderators to ban someone off a server not every online in minecraft that punishment is too much especially as a perma ban. I'm kinda scared of playing minecraft on online because if I'm banned goodbye online forever mojang should think instead of talking something out of their butt I'm very disappointed in mojang doing this kind of act.

Melly Dow As a small-time on-and-off server owner myself, it's not my job to babysit your nephew or any other kids who are still subject to protections under COPPA (which this game is technically not compliant with, I might add, so they really shouldn't be playing online at all outside of local private servers). It's not my place to tell people how to parent, but in my honest opinion his parents need to be more active in determining which servers he should be allowed on and which ones he shouldn't, rather than letting him just run rampant and making him the servers' owners' problem. Stop using electronic devices as babysitters.

^ Agreeing with the guy above. Also, How is this Fear Mongering? This is a player showing his dislike for the new system being in place.
As he said it isn't my place to say how to parent, but if that is really an issue restrict your child and find out how to properly manage their tech and games. Minecraft isn't a babysitting game.

Everybody in the comments here are correct. Minecraft did not need this ban system. Nobody wants this ban system. Microsoft isn't going to listen. And a minecraft clone with better online features is likely to come out. Why would microsoft restrict players in a game of no restrictions? Your guess is as good as mine. I just hope I can find another game as fun as minecraft is right now.

Now I really see how bad the moderation system is now. That is really bad.
