One problem that I have noticed that has been plaguing this game has always been beach to mountain transitions, Let me explain. Whenever beaches meet mountains they are minute, small and a pain; their is no room to breathe and move easily and lack any detail that separates these mountainous beaches from any other.
How to fix this: Extend the amount of land from beaches around mountains that lay beside oceans, Add jagged rocks that pierce through the water showing erosion without needing to add any new game events, Add a dark pebble block that is darker than cobblestone but has higher contrast in different spots having a texture that looks lick it's reflecting light; this would make up the mountainous beaches instead of sand.
Conclusion - These small features would give mountains more uniqueness and detail and would reduce the repetition of beaches allowing mountains to have more reason for you as the player to go there.
