Varying stone for stalagmites and around ore

I think it would looks better if stalagmites takes the the texture of the stone block (stone, granite, diorite, andesite) on which it is attached with slightly modification to look like stalagmites. This idea could be also applied on ores they will takes takes the texture of stone block ant put over an ore texture. PS: I hope I was clear, I'm not a native English speaker

  Dripstone could be the only block where stalactites naturally spawn or can be grown from. Once gathered there, they could be applied to other stones
