I think that the Freezing effect in the recent snapshot is an amazing idea, especially with the incorporation with leather armor, but it could use some improvements. For one, it should last forever, unless the player leaves the cold biome(s) and enters a warmer one. On higher difficulties, the freezing effect can hurt the player faster, or can even kill them ([Player] froze to death). It should also be easier to get the freezing effect. If powder snow ends up not being naturally-generating, then the effect is pointless. However, maybe the freezing effect can behave similarly to the oxidation effect of copper; as the in-game days progress, if the player stays in a cold biome, the player gets colder, and the speed at which that happens can change depending on the difficulty. The effect can also occur from water in cold biomes too.
I think that the freezing effect is a great idea, and adds an extra challenge to Minecraft. But, in my opinion, it can be better!
