New Glass breaking Tool

I got this idea for another use for the amethyst shards:

we could craft a tool that breaks glass using the shards, since we dont have anything that actually breaks it instantly or at least faster than our fists, and it makes sense because the shards are sharp and very resistant.

  the questions are, does the glass broken with this tool drop itself (like with a pickaxe with silk touch does), and if not, is it enchant able?
