Hello,
I would like to have an update on the anti-mob spawn mechanic, because it's actually really annoying placing plenty of torches on one little area just to not have hostile mobs spawning and avoid creepers to destroy your base. I have some ideas about how to add this new way to prevent hostile mobs from spawning. With the upcomming cave update, we were introduced to new mobs, which one of them is the glowsquid. The glowsquid can be a way to add a new way of enlightment in the game. I still want to keep the "light prevent mobs spawning" mechanic in Minecraft and the glowsquid's loot can be the key for this.
Basically, the glow squid can have a specific drop to craft a specific item that can clear a certain area from hostile mob spawning. The specific item can be a sort of super torch that can have a 50 blocks radius of enlightment that prevent hostile mobs to spawn. It can be crafted by adding a "glowing ink" surrounded by 8 torches to make one glowing torch.
Or, we can use that on the beacon. As you know the beacon's ray can change its color by placing colored glasses above it, and we already have tinted glasses that prevents light to pass through. We can do the exact opposite for a new sort of glass, a glowing glass/light diffuser that can be added at the top of the beacon to "diffuse" light in a larger radius and prevent hostile mobs to spawn.
Of course it can be crafted with Glowsquid's loot.
I hope you'll read my message, have a very nice day.
